Situated in the historical and picturesque city of Suzhou renowned as “Heaven on Earth”, Soochow University is a national key institute listed in the Project 211, among the first batch of members in the “2011 Program”, in the Double First Class University Plan, and a top comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province. The original Soochow University (Dongwu Daxue in pinyin) was founded in Suzhou in 1900.
The first postdoctoral research station at Soochow university was approved by the state in 1995 and the number has risen to 29, ranking the first among provincial universities nationwide. The university welcomes young outstanding scholars in China and abroad to join our post-doctoral research teams.

Qualifications:
- Strongpolitical awarenessand high moral integrity; compliance with laws, rules and regulations; excellence in both conduct and academic abilities; sound mental and physical health.
- A PhD degree from China (including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan) or foreign countries, graduation within 3 years; not beyond 35 years old, with exceptions for researchers highly expert in Humanities and Social Sciences and areas with urgent talent shortage, where the age limitation can be eased pertinent to the situation.
- Strong research skills and great potential for academic study; the requirements of relevant postdoctoral research stations of the university shall be met.
- Full-time postdoctoral researchers only, conducting research work at the postdoctoral research station of the university.
Duration:
Three years in general and six years at most, adjusted according to the term of project subsidy and the researcher’s responsibility in the project.
Benefits:
- Regularly enrolled postdoctoral researchers are engaged at a salary paid jointly by the university and the supervisor. The salary is assigned according to the latest rank of the university by which the PhD degree was conferred in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking. - Scientific research foundation is provided, 20,000 and 10,000 RMB per person respectivelyfor those involved in experimental research in Natural Science and in Humanities and Social Sciences and non-experimental research in Natural Science.
- Specialized apartments or a housing subsidy of 1000 per month are available for application.
- The university encourages the stations and supervisors to raise the salary according to the researcher’s performance.
- Where one is elected among Outstanding Postdoctoral Researchers of Soochow University after admission, the university will issue a one-time bonus.
